In these times of complex growth, fast expansion and turbulence,
it’s important to take moments of standstill, to look back and reflect
on the multitude of things coming our way. Only then can we
progress to a durable and sustainable future for everyone. The
project ‘Skyscraping’ was brought to life to help facilitate this
process.
‘Skyscraping’ is an ode to ambivalence, a merging of electronic and
acoustic, tension and release, familiarity and novelty. It was founded
by dutch multi-instrumentalist, sound designer and producer Daan
Leever, to bridge the different worlds he’s deeply emerged in. On
one side, composing, playing and improvising with (acoustic)
instruments such as saxophone, guitar and piano, while on the other
side deeply emerged in the world of electronics; obsessed with
signal flow, programming, modular synths and samplers. The music
arose from his love for acoustic improvised and composed music
(e.g. Classical, Jazz and Cinematic music), and more modern
electronic music (like Ambient, New Age, Japanese Video Game
music). The result: a mélange of sounds and atmoshpere’s that take
you on a journey through your emotional landscape.
The first album 3Th3rc is the first of a series of albums exploring
different acoustic instruments, and the worlds of sound they can
create combining them with electronics. For ‘3Th3rc’ this instrument
is the Acoustic Guitar, creating all the sounds on the album just with
the guitar, modular synth and the voice

Daan Leever is a multi-instrumentalist, producer, sound
designer, audio engineer and educator based in Rotterdam, the
Netherlands.
He was born in Arnhem on 24th of September 1993 where he
grew up and studied Jazz&Pop on the conservatory of Arnhem
(ArtEZ). After his school he started diving deeper into the world
of electronic music, and expanded his musical activities playing
in bands with composing, (co-)producing and mixing for his own
projects and other people. His main focus is finding innovative
and intuitive ways of incorporating electronics with acoustic
and electronic instruments.
He played venues/festival’s like Noorderslag, North Sea Jazz,
Paradiso with former bands De Raad van Toezicht & Knars.
Since a few years he is more active releasing original music and
playing live with several projects he founded: Jazzrock with
BOBO (8080), IDM with Stellar Wave, UK House/Garage with
RaveDaves and Ambient with Skyscraping. Recently he started
teaching live electronics at the school he studied on (ArtEZ
Arnhem)
